NAFCO Particulate Filter |
There are several types of filters in a compressed air system but the two most common are coalescing and particulate. The particulate filter’s job is to remove solid contaminants from the compressed air system. It will give you the performance you require only when sized correctly for the application. A particulate, filter unlike the coalescing filter, cannot be oversized. The only negative to over sizing is the capital cost involved. The problems with under sizing are pressure drop and frequent element changes. The other area that should be examined is the micron size of the filter element. The smaller the micron size the faster it will become blocked. So sizing both the housing and the element becomes an important part of particulate filter design.
The first component in any compressed air system is the intake filter on the compressor. This filter is there primarily to protect the compressor but also keeps the entire system free of ambient particulates as well. Solid contaminates are produced in the compressed air system by desiccant dryers primarily but can also be produced by oxidation of the piping. These solid contaminates can cause blockages especially when combined with water. The water tends to bind the solids together. Naturally a compressed air system working at the peak of its expected performance should not be allowing solid contaminants to enter your process, instrument or tools.
If you are frustrated with the traditional sales, installation and service you have experienced we can make this process simpler and understandable. By first understanding your system and what you expect your system to produce we can tailor the components to provide you with the life expectancy and reliability you expect from your other utility providers. After all, compressed air should be as simple as turning on the lights or water.
- Particulate filtration is not just a matter of putting material between the dirt and your processes. Are your filters able to provide the maximum protection and performance possible?
- The Titus Company can evaluate your system and work with you to specify a system that will save your resources and improve your system performance.
- If we cannot improve your system we will tell you that as well.
- Our goal is to listen, educate and evaluate.
We work with some of the best manufacturers of filtration on the market today and their leadership in this field has changed the way every other filter manufacturer makes and supplies filtration.
