The unique, multi-step process removes solid particles like dust and dirt, oils, fumes, vapors, microorganisms and other contaminants. Six Steps of Filtration
Compressed air-fed breathing systems from Altas Copco use an intensive, six-step process to purify compressed air and create safe working environments:
- Steps 1 and 2: In the initial steps, a fine and coarse coalescing filter and a water separator remove oil aerosols present in the intaken air.
- Step 3: This step consists of a heatless desiccant dryer reducing the moisture content of the air to a pressure dew point of -40°C/-40°F. The lower moisture content lowers the risk of mold or bacteria growth and condensation.
- Steps 4 and 5: These steps are a dual cleaning stage. First, activated carbon eliminates hydrocarbons, like oil vapors and smells. Then a catalyst converts the CO into CO2.
- Step 6: In the final step, a bacterial filter with a 99.99% efficiency rate removes any particles that may have entered the air during the desiccant stage.
